By signing this document, you are consecrating your heart to the Reconnaissance Legion and to Humanity. Please read each of the mandates carefully. Remember that humanity is the most important thing to us.
1. The spirit of the legionnaire: It is unique and unparalleled, characterized by blindand fierce determination, always seeking to shorten the distance with the enemy andcome to the bayonet.
2. The spirit of camaraderie: With the sacred oath to never abandon a man on thebattlefield, until all perish.
3. The spirit of friendship: A bond between every two men.
4. The spirit of unity and assistance: At the cry of "To me, The Legion!", wherever itmay be, all will come and, rightly or wrongly, defend the legionnaire who calls forhelp.
5. The spirit of march: Never will a legionnaire say he is tired, until he falls exhausted.He will have the fastest and most enduring body.
6. The spirit of endurance and toughness: He will not complain of fatigue, pain,hunger, thirst, or sleep; he will do all tasks, dig, drag cannons, wagons; he will be ondetachment, do convoys, work as assigned.
7. The spirit of rushing to the fire: The Legion, from the single man to the entire Legion,will always rush where it hears fire, day or night, always, always, even withoutorders to do so.
8. The spirit of discipline: He will fulfill his duty, obey until death.
9. The spirit of combat: The Legion will always, always request to fight, withoutrotation, without counting the days, months, or years.
10. The spirit of death: Dying in combat is the greatest honor. One only dies once. Deathcomes without pain and dying is not as horrible as it seems. The most horrible thingis to live as a coward.
11. The flag of The Legion: The flag of The Legion will be the most glorious, because itis dyed with the blood of its legionnaires.
12. All legionnaire men are brave: All legionnaire men are brave; each nation has areputation for bravery; here it is necessary to demonstrate which people are thebravest.
